15-days tour from Casablanca

Our 15-days tour from Casablanca will show you lots of beautiful Morocco. You will visit The King Cities Meknes and Fes. The last city is well known because of its famous tanneries and potteries. But also the beautiful little towns along the Atlantic coast and the ruins of Volubilis are in the program.  There are nice activities, such as a camel ride and a night in a luxury tent in our Royal Oasis Camp in the desert. So, you will enjoy all the facets of authentic Morocco and gain an unforgettable travel experience.

Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat

Today you will be picked up by us for the start of your 15-days tour from Casablanca. First of all we visit the Hassan II  mosque. This is the largest mosque outside of Mecca. After this visit we leave for Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Dinner and overnight in hotel / Riad.

Day 2: Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Fes

After breakfast we will first visit the Hassan Tower and the Oudaya Kasbah. Then we travel on to Fes. The route goes via Meknes and Volubilis. In Meknes, one of the four Imperial Cities in Morocco, we visit the famous Bab Mansour gate, the Sahrij Souani Basin and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. After lunch we continue our journey to Volubilis, the ruins of a Roman settlement, which date back to the 3rd century BC. Some of the original mosaics have remained very well preserved. After that, we will drive through the foothills of the Rif mountains until we reach Fes in the late afternoon. Overnight based on bed and breakfast.

Day 3: Discover Fes

First you will enjoy a quiet breakfast and then you will wander through the oldest city in Morocco led by a (local) guide. You walk through alleys and small streets full of life.  You will see cultural and historicak sights of Fes, such as the Royal Palace Gate. But also the Jewish quarter, the first Mellah ever built in Morocoo in  the 16th century. The Al Qaraouine University, the oldest in the region. And of course the famous tanneries. After lunch you will visit a mosaic cooperative. Overnight based on bed and breakfast.

Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

After breakfast we leave Fes and continue our tour. Our final destination for today is Merzouga. We drive through Midelt and the Ziz valley. We pass the village of Ifrane, a beautiful mountain village in the Middle Atlas Mountains and known as the Switzerland of Morocco. Along the way you will enjoy the Middle Atlas and High Atlas Mountains. We stop at Azrou, a Berber village in the middle of the famous cedar forest. The Barbary Apes live here. The journey continues to Midelt along the beautiful hills and mountains of the Atlas and over the fascinating Tiz Ntalghamt pass. You will notice how the landscape changes as we approach the desert and the city of Errachidia. We then continue our journey along the lush Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way to Erfoud and Rissani. In the late afternoon we arrive in Merzouga, where you will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea before checking into your hotel/Riad for dinner and overnight stay. .

Day 5: Merzouga area and camel ride

After breakfast it is time to explore the area. The desert is one of the highlights of this 15-days tour from Casablanca. We are going to visit the Gnawa people, originally from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. We also visit a nomad house where many Berber handicrafts are priced lower than in the big cities. At the end of the afternoon, your dromedary awaits for a trip through the golden sand sea of  the Erg Chebbi desert. Of course accompanied by an experienced guide. After you have seen the beautiful sunset, you will return and taken by 4 x 4  to our luxury tent camp in the sauvage desert. Here you will spend the night, dine and enjoy an unforgettable evening with traditional music and a campfire.

Day 6: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

First enjoy the extensive breakfast in the tent camp, after which we leave for Rissani, Tinghir and the Todra gorge. This is the highest and narrowest gorge in Morocco. After the visit to the Todra gorge we drive through the Dades Valley. There you will see majestic Kasbah’s –  traditional sand castles – and the beautiful rock formations known as the “monkey toes”. Overnight and dinner in hotel / Riad.

Day 7: Dades gorge – Bouthaghrar – Skoura – Ouarzazate

After breakfast at the hotel we travel further through the Dades Valley to Ouarzazate. The route through the Dades Valley is called ‘the way of the thousand kasbahs’. It is a beautiful route with plenty of opportunities to take beautiful pictures. Today you will also have the opportunity to meet Berber nomads in their caves. We stop at Kalaat M’gouna, the rose city. Here you can buy rose water and rose oil. We continue to Skoura and visit the well-preserved Kasbah Ameridil. There is an opportunity for lunch in a restaurant with a view of the whole valley. After lunch we arrive in Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa”. Here is the studio with props used in well-known films, such as The Mummy, Gladiator and the Last Temptation of Christ. Dinner and overnight in hotel / Riad.

Day 8: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Imlil

After breakfast in the hotel, we travel through the spectacular Tizi ‘nTichka pass to Asni and Imlil. But first we will stop at the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. The largest Kasbah in Morocco was built by one of the last Berber chiefs at the end of the 19th century. It was an important stop on the trade routes to Timbuktu in Mali. Today, many of the Glaoui family members still live in the Kasbah. After a short visit to the Kasbah, the journey will continue to Asni and Imlil, villages in the heart of the High Atlas Mountains. Dinner and overnight in hotel / Riad.

Day 9: Area Arumd and Imlil

After breakfast you have the chance to explore the area and enjoy the Berber culture. You have the choice to hike for a few hours in the valley. And you will experience a fascinating view from the highest mountain in North Africa. You will walk to the village of Arumd, a small Berber settlement with a proud culture. In the afternoon you will be back at the hotel/Riad. Then relax and reminisce about the impressions you have received in recent days. Dinner and overnight in hotel / Riad.

Day 10 Imlil – Tahnaout – Marrakech

After breakfast we prepare for departure to Marrakech. We drive through the Berber village of Tahnaout and the fascinating gorge of Moulay Brahim. There are several stops along the way to take pictures. At a leisurely pace we continue the journey to Marrakech. In Marrakech we will have a look at the Majorelle Gardens before checking into the hotel / Riad. Afterwards, there will be enough time to take a walk on your own around the famous square of Jemaa El Fna. The attractive square has a colorful collection of magicians, storytellers, musicians and snake charmers. Overnight stay on a bed / breakfast basis.

Day 11: Marrakech exploring

After breakfast you can start exploring Marrakech, the “red city of Morocco” with a (local) guide. We will ensure that you will see the most important sites of historical and cultural interest, including the Saadian tombs, the palace of El Bahia and the Ben Youssef Coranic School, and the souks. In the afternoon you will have free time to wander through Marrakech on your own. Overnight stay on a bed / breakfast basis.

Day 12: Marrakech – Essaouira

After breakfast we leave for the coastal town of Essaouira. After arrival you will explore the town on your own.
You discover the Skala fortress, the harbor, the souks. You will also become acquainted with the specialization of Essaouira, the processing and cutting of Thuya wood by craftsmen. You walk through the alleys of the medina and along the hundreds of crafts. You wander through the Mellah – the Jewish headquarters. Or you can get a breath of fresh air on the wide, extensive and golden sandy beach. Essaouira is known for its strong winds and is also called the “City of the Winds”. Surfers from all over the world come to this place. Essaouira has known many civilizations – including the Portuguese occupation – which had a major influence on architecture. It is a small city with a great history. Because of its size and its characteristic blue doors and washed walls, it is also considered Morocco’s Jewel of the Atlantics. Overnight stay based on bed / breakfast.

Day 13: Essouaira – Walidia (Oualidia) – El Jadida

Today we leave after breakfast towards Walidia. We take the beautiful coastal road along the Atlantic Ocean. The small town is situated between El Jadida and Safi. It has a beautiful lagoon of 12 km long which is considered as one of the most beautiful lagoons in Morocco. The combination of the sea, sand and sun creates a light that  is a feast for the eyes. After a visit to the remains of the Kasbah, you will have the opportunity for a lunch. After lunch we leave for El Jadida. Overnight in El Jadida.

Day 14: El Jadida – Casablanca

El Jadida is a nice port town on the Atlantic coast. It was built in the early 16th century as a fortified colony. The castle with its bastions are an example of this. In 2004 the historical center was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. After breakfast you are free to explore the town. And in the afternoon we depart to Casablanca, where overnight in hotel/Riad based on bed and breakfast.

Day 15: Casablanca – airport transfer

Depending on your flight schedule, you can visit the city of Casablanca. Transfer to the airport.
